Val d'Ultimo
Genuine. Idyllic. Splendid.
The Val d'Ultimo Valley turns off at Lana near Merano and is a 40 km long, rural and idyllic side valley. The valley is known for its unspoilt nature with the Valsura River flowing through it.
You will be amazed by the aproximately two thousand years old Ultimo Valley larch trees. They are said to be the oldest needle trees in Europe with an 8 m thick trunk and heights of about 35 metres. If you like special teas, herbal salt, natural beauty products and wool products, you should visit the Wegleit Herbs Farm. In the Lahner Säge National Park House you can feel, breathe and smell wood, and see how it is cut through the use of water power. A special experience awaits you at the water-driven mills. Farming culture and the life of our grandparents can also be experienced in the Ultimo Valley Museum.
A hiking paradise in summer, in winter a winter fairytale with ski resort, cross-country tracks and innumerable tours for winter walks and snow-shoe hikes.
